Valentine's Day Collection

My package arrived today, a gift. I carefully opened the carton to find a beautiful, luxurious black box , tied up with gold ribbon.. I was surprised , it felt quite heavy as I lifted it out carefully. I inhaled deeply as I lifted the box to my nose. I gently pulled the silky gold ribbon , it slipped off easily. I stared at the label and ran my fingers across the box. It exuded quality and attention to detail. I lifted the lid, feeling the magnetic catch securing the contents, savouring the moment before full revelation. Now eager to see my gift I removed the menu card, tempted to explore & learn more , hesitating before removing the lightly padded paper cover. and finally looking at the beautiful, glossy, colourful array of chocolates. Speckled, glossy, each one perfectly formed and packaged carefully with love, pride & precision in neat rows. A work of art, created with thought and care. Each one inviting me to guess its secret. I breathed in the unmistakeable aroma of delicious quality chocolate. and smiled with satisfaction. My eyes turned to the menu as I searched for the Mango and passionfruit. I confirmed the colour and design gently lifted my first chocolate out. I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed but I wanted to savour the first time. I bit the top and heard the crack I’d hoped I’d hear, before allowing it to melt in my mouth. Flavours and sensations of fruity, tangy freshness teased my tastebuds, whilst the warm flavour of rich dark chocolate , not too sweet, not too bitter followed. I popped the second half into my mouth and continued to enjoy the flavours which lingered long after the chocolate had gone. No sugar rush, no urgency to take the next one. Just complete satisfaction. These beautiful chocolates are to be savoured but not shared, how could you?
